Indian Dreams Kanatha Stitched One-of-a-kind jacket

escription: In 2018 I had the privilege of traveling to India with my daughter. What an amazing adventure we had. I, being a textile artist, fell in love with the colorful saris and clothing the women wore. I bought many beautiful yards of silk to incorporate into my hand made felted garments. I was intrigued by the top stitching that is used to embellish and visually unite the collage fabrics. After seamlessly hand felting the jacket I painstakingly hand stitched the jacket in the Kanatha style. The result is a glorious light weight jacket pieced together from many different saris from across India’s continent. The buttons are hand-made and hand painted from coconut shells that I found in India.
